Top Gear Is Finally Going High Definition!
_____
Posted September 22nd, 2009 at 22:432009-09-22T22:43:40ZF jS, Y \a\t H:i by Viper007Bond in Top Gear

Unlike last time, it is now official that the next season of Top Gear will be in HD!

That means all the races, supercars sliding from left to right of your telly screens and the boys’ comedic adventure, all in crystal clarity.

As Jeremy said a few weeks’ back, filming is well underway on Series 14 and if all goes to plan it’ll be on your screens by mid-November.

We’ll be doing our best to provide 700MB (SD), 720p, and 1080p rips for each episode. The HD rips will likely take a bit longer to release though, so don’t expect them as quickly as we release the current resolution rips.

I realized I never made a single torrent for Top Gear season 13, so I’ve done so now. If you’ve yet to watch season 13 (what in the world were you thinking?!), then you can easily download it right now.

As always, if you don’t wish to download the entire season, see our FAQ for details on how to selectively download certain files from within a torrent.

If you don’t subscribe to the Top Gear newsletter or missed the latest issue, here’s some outtakes from the latest season of Top Gear.

UPDATE: I forgot that I have a Greasemonkey script in my browser that removes the region blocking from the TopGear.com videos. You can find YouTube versions of the videos in this forum post.

Andy Wilman Interviewed On The Radio

From the Top Gear blog:

Here’s something for the proper Top Gear fan — our executive producer Andy Wilman at the Edinburgh Festival talking about the telly show.

It was a Five Live interview with newsreader (and former Star in a Reasonably Priced Car) Kate Silverton, covering searching topics such as secrets to the success of the show and why men like sheds.

At 13 minutes, it’s a decently long interview and is worth listening to. You can download the interview or stream it here:

Adam Carolla And Eric Stromer Tell Top Gear US Adventure Story

Eric Stromer was the guest on the latest Adam Carolla podcast. The first 22 minutes of the podcast is Adam telling a great story about their adventure to Death Valley in what sounds like a cheap car challenge for the pilot of now-canceled Top Gear America. It’s worth listening to (those 22 minutes at least) and really makes me wish someone would release that pilot.

I’ve mirrored the podcast on our server for download (so you all don’t devastate their servers), or you can listen to it here:

Thanks to JoeX and Charlie for sending in the tips!

Porsche Shooting Brake Hoax By TopGear.com America

You may or may not remember that Porsche shooting brake mule video that surfaced on TopGear.com in early July:

It was picked up by various websites, including Jalopnik. Well, turns out it was all a hoax as a sort of going away present from the TopGear.com American editorial staff before they got let go. Pretty damn good (but not perfect) hoax if you ask me.

You can read more about how they did it at the NY Times and Jalopnik.

Well done guys.

Top Gear’s American Site Moves To BBCAmerica.com

Posted August 10th, 2009 at 21:272009-08-10T21:27:24ZF jS, Y \a\t H:i by Viper007Bond in Top Gear, Top Gear America

Just a quick note to say that for a variety of reasons, including Top Gear America not being picked up, the US portal on TopGear.com now redirects to a great new Top Gear website located at BBCAmerica.com. Worth checking out if for no reason other than to see when the next episode of Top Gear airs on BBC America.

Posted August 10th, 2009 at 06:142009-08-10T06:14:41ZF jS, Y \a\t H:i by Viper007Bond in Richard Hammond, Steve Pizzati

On Saturday, Richard Hammond crashed his £110,000 Morgan AeroMax. Luckily he walked away with no injuries.

Not to be outdone, Top Gear Australia host Steve Pizzati rolled his race car two and a half times in a race on Sunday. Luckily he was fine as well though.

Drive more carefully, guys. lol

Since the previous two sets of T-shirts were so successful, we’ve decided to do some more designs.

As like before, it’ll be a contest where anyone and everyone can submit their ideas for a design. Winners will get a free shirt or two, some swag, and major props and gratitude. :P

If you’re interested in entering, you can find the full contest details on our forums.
