Due to it coming out that Ben Collins was the Stig, Top Gear was in need of a new one. TopGear.com has posted an article and video footage documenting where they get their Stigs from. They also reveal what color the new Stig will be.

The Stig will be profiled on this weekend’s 60 Minutes here in the US. Tune in to CBS at 7PM (I guess 6 central) this Sunday to catch it.

Here’s a preview:

Ben Collins, who was the main person behind the white Stig until recently, is joining Fifth Gear for at least 5 episodes. He will host segments and in addition perform “Stig-like” roles.

It is believed that multiple people portray the Stig, but Ben Collins has been the main person and the one who sets lap times since 2003 when the black Stig was killed off after Perry McCarthy, who played the black Stig, came out with an autobiography. Ben Collins is now doing the same with an autobiography due out soon.

It is unknown if the white Stig will be killed off and replaced with a third Stig or not.

Part of the Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection coming out this October will be the Stig’s Garage Car Pack featuring the Lexus LFA, Koenigsegg CCX, and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. The pack is a part of a larger deal which will include a 90 minute Top Gear compilation video as well as a Stig dashboard theme.

As you may be aware, I don’t like posting about the person who portrays the Stig. To me, the Stig is not a person but a character. It doesn’t really matter who is inside the suit and driving.

This is why I have avoided posting about the legal battle currently going on with the person who is portraying the Stig wanting to write a tell-all autobiography and give away the poorly held secret of who the Stig is. The last time this happened, the Stig wore a black suit and was subsequently killed off.

However I felt it was worth posting about it finally as Top Gear executive producer Andy Wilman has posted his thoughts over on TopGear.com. It’s worth taking a few minutes to read it.

It seems the Stig really likes LEGOLAND (although who wouldn’t?) as in addition to the previous sightings, we now have three more! Sadly one is already blurred out.

This is quickly turning into a game of Where’s Waldo?. The Stig has been spotted in at least four other views in LEGOLAND on Google Maps, in addition to the two from Wednesday.

First though, Google has begun blurring out the Stig out as they did before, so here’s some screenshots I took pre-blur of the first two spottings:

Looks like The Stig has been spotted in LEGOLAND in the UK on Google Maps. He was previously spotted on Google Maps next to the Loch Ness.
