Top Gear America will be returning to the airwaves on July 24th and they need in-studio audiences for their tapings. Unlike the British version which films their studio bits the Wednesday before the airing, Top Gear America films them all in a row. This year’s episodes will be filmed July 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th, and 17th in Irvine, California at El Toro.
If 18 or older and you’d like to attempt to get tickets to be in the audience, head on over to their ticket website. Good luck!
The History channel and BBC Worldwide announced today that Top Gear US has been picked up for a second season. Production will begin this spring and the hosts will remain the same, a decision that we agree with. Over 60 million people tuned into the first season of the show which is a very respectable number.
Clarkson says he’s happy about the announcement:
Top Gear is our baby so you can understand why Hammond, May and I were anxious about passing it on to the presenters of the US show. We needn’t have worried because Top Gear is clearly in safe hands, even if they do insist on speaking in those stupid accents. Watching an episode from series 1 with Richard and James, we found ourselves in a genuinely heated debate about which of the presenters’ cars was best. We were just three ordinary chaps watching a car show and loving it, which is exactly what Top Gear should be. Bring on series 2.
We’ll of continue to bring you all news and information about the show over the coming months.
The episode of Top Gear America that aired tonight was just a recap show basically. No new segments — just the hosts talking about things in the previous season. As such we will be delaying the release of the episode, if we decide to release it at all, in order to devote more seeding bandwidth to the British version that aired earlier today.
Just a quick note to apologize for the release delay. Unfortunately I’m stuck in bed sick (I’m posting this from my phone), so the release will either be done by one of the people who help me run this site (after they wake up) or by me on Monday maybe if I’m feeling better.
The episode should be available on History.com soon though.
Many thanks to everyone who's ripped the episodes on this site as well as Quiky and PacketCollision for being awesome sysops.
