Adam Carolla and Rutledge Wood were in Long Beach for the upcoming celebrity race and chatted a bit about the American Top Gear as well as the fact that Rutledge will soon start filming season 4 of the show. Worth watching!
Missed the two airings of Adam Carolla’s The Car Show tonight? Then Streetfire.net will be officially rebroadcasting it at some point (doesn’t appear to be up yet, but that’s to be expected).
As a result, we will most likely not be providing coverage for this show here.
While we’re on the subject of free filming tickets, I thought I’d point out that tickets are also available for The Car Show. That’s Adam Carolla’s automotive show after he was unable to host Top Gear America.
On a side note, we will probably not be providing coverage of this show here on FinalGear.com. There’s lots of great automotive TV shows out there and it wouldn’t be feasible to cover them all. Plus we like our niche of being the best place to get news about everything Top Gear and discuss the show and it’s directly related shows.
It’s been officially announced: an American version of Top Gear will be coming to the History Channel this fall, will be titled “Gear”, and has received a 10 episode commitment.
We reported that the show was coming to the History Channel back in February, but it wasn’t until yesterday that it was officially confirmed and the hosts announced. As expected, racing driver and professional drifter Tanner Foust will be one of the hosts while Adam Carolla, busy with an NBC pilot, will not.
On last week’s CarCast podcast (yes, I’m behind on listening to them), Adam had professional driver Tanner Foust on the show and they chatted for over an hour. One of the subjects they talked about was the American version of Top Gear which is set to air on the History Channel. It turns out that Tanner is still slated to host the show, but that Adam will be busy with an NBC show pilot (and potentially a resulting sitcom). The other host(s) have yet to be determined.
Interesting news on the Top Gear USA front — Adam Carolla has said that the BBC is working with the History Channel to bring the show to the channel. He revealed this on the latest episode of his CarCast podcast. The Top Gear discussion begins about 12:30 in, but it’s worth listening to the whole podcast if for nothing more than hearing a classic Lamborghini Miura start up.
Eric Stromer was the guest on the latest Adam Carolla podcast. The first 22 minutes of the podcast is Adam telling a great story about their adventure to Death Valley in what sounds like a cheap car challenge for the pilot of now-canceled Top Gear America. It’s worth listening to (those 22 minutes at least) and really makes me wish someone would release that pilot.
I’ve mirrored the podcast on our server for download (so you all don’t devastate their servers), or you can listen to it here:
It turns out that it wasn’t really the show that is getting canceled, it’s the whole radio station in Los Angeles that’s getting canceled. The station, which is currently an FM talk station, is being reformatted as a Top 40′s music station. Cheaper I guess.
Here’s some segments from his show explaining the cancellation.
This is kinda-sorta off-topic, but Adam Carolla’s morning radio show has been canceled. As you may know, Adam hosted the pilot of Top Gear America (which may or may not be canceled). I don’t know the full details on his radio show cancellation, but I guess the economy as well as ratings contributed to the demise of the show. Word is Adam will start up a daily podcast soon though.
Many thanks to everyone who's ripped the episodes on this site as well as Quiky and PacketCollision for being awesome sysops.
