Past T-Shirt Designs Available For Purchase
_____
Posted March 15th, 2014 at 00:00 by Viper007Bond in FG.com Store

This post has been bumped to the top incase any of you missed it in the past. Help support this site by buying a shirt!

At least once a year we have a competition to design some great T-shirts and then take pre-orders for the winning designs. Until now, if you missed the pre-order window then you were out of luck forever.

However we are now happy to announce that nearly all of our past T-shirt designs are now available for purchase from the on-demand printing site RedBubble.

Most of the designs are available in both a light style (for being placed on light colored shirts) and a dark style (for being placed on dark colored shirts). Pick your design and then your shirt color and shirt style including girl-style, long sleeve, or even hoodie!. Prices are a bit more expensive than when we did pre-orders because we were able to order in bulk instead of on-demand when we did that. Future shirt designs will still go through this pre-order process in order to keep shirt prices down.

We’re Back On Facebook
_____
Posted February 3rd, 2014 at 02:03 by Viper007Bond in FinalGear.com

Years ago I accidentally lost access to the old Facebook page I had created for the site. I saw a few people still posting to it, especially today, and figured I’d properly set up a new one for those who are interested. You can find it right here.

While you’re at it, you should also like the official Top Gear UK, Top Gear US, and Fifth Gear Facebook pages.

Additionally we also have a Twitter account that you can follow.

We will be syndicating content posted here to both Twitter and Facebook which should make it easier for you to keep up to date with what’s going on here at FinalGear.com.

UPDATE: Turns out one of our forum moderators still had access to our old Facebook page (oops!) but we’re going to go ahead and stick with this newly created page. The old one only had about 2000 likes anyway and had a poor URL.

Should We Change What Filename Format We Use For Releases?
_____
Posted January 16th, 2014 at 21:26 by Viper007Bond in FinalGear.com

Currently we release episodes with filenames that look like this:

Top Gear - [20x06] - 2013.08.04 [FoV].mp4

I’m considering switching to using the Scene‘s naming convention, like this:

Top.Gear.S20E06.HDTV.x264-FoV.mp4

What are your thoughts on the matter? Please leave them in this forum thread and poll on our forums. Thanks!

FinalGear.com Is Now 10 Years Old!
_____
Posted October 24th, 2013 at 19:00 by Viper007Bond in FinalGear.com

FinalGear.com in it’s various forms over the years is turning 10 years old today, give or take. I can’t remember exactly when I started up Gear.Viper007Bond.com, as the site was originally known, but it was late October 2003 that much I know for sure.

I’d just like to thank everyone that has been involved with the site over the years.

  • Vuk for getting me hooked on Top Gear and supplying episode rips in the early years. If it weren’t for him, I would have never started this site.
  • The various people who helped me keep the site and downloads online in the early years of this site. I’ll refrain from mentioning them to protect their anonymity but they know who they are and how awesome they are.
  • Quiky for helping me run the site and the forums as well as running our store which directly covers the costs associated with running this site.
  • PacketCollision for being our awesome systems administrator and making sure the site stays online.
  • All of our current and past forum moderators who help keep our awesome forums going.
  • The BBC, the History channel, Channel Five, and the Discovery network for putting up with us and being cool enough to realize that we don’t mean any harm. We’re just big fans of all of their shows!
  • Lastly you! Without you visiting this site, there wouldn’t be much need for it to be online.

I’m sure I’m forgetting some people from that list — forgive me, it’s not intentional. I’m just forgetful. ;)

If you’d like to read a short history of this site, I’ve assembled one on our forums going through how this site started and evolved over the years.

Thanks again for visiting and here’s to another great 10 years!

FinalGear.com Pacific Northwest USA Meetup: September 21st
_____
Posted August 27th, 2013 at 23:20 by Viper007Bond in FG.com Meets

If you live in Seattle, Portland, or Vancouver BC, consider joining us for a drive on September 21st around Puget Sound.

We haven’t finalized the route yet but are currently thinking something along the lines of this route. I suspect some people will break off at the halfway point and take a ferry back to Seattle.

If this is something that interests you, please post in the meetup thread on our forums so we can get an idea of the size of the attendance.

Don’t live in this part of the world? Then consider starting up your own driving meet in your part of the world.

FinalGear.com Meets This Summer/Fall

Posted July 16th, 2013 at 00:09 by Viper007Bond in FG.com Meets

With the weather finally starting to be great, a lot of members of our forums are planning meetups where a bunch of visitors to this website meet up and then go for a drive somewhere cool.

Highlights include:

If you’re near any of these locations, drop by the above linked threads and say hi! Or maybe start your own meetup near your home city!

Yes, Torrage.com & Zoink.It Are Offline
_____
Posted February 17th, 2013 at 01:50 by Viper007Bond in FinalGear.com

UPDATE: Torrage.com is back online.

We host torrent files on Torrage.com and Zoink.it, two popular torrent hosting services. Zoink.it has been down for a while now (unsure of it’s status) but Torrage.com has been working until it had a presumable temporary hiccup today. Until either returns, please use the magnet link to download the .torrent file via your BitTorrent client instead. You’ll see it as the third link on the download page.

Have an older BitTorrent client that doesn’t support DHT or magnet links? Try switching to a more modern client such as µTorrent. You can also copy/paste the magnet URL into µTorrent’s “Add Torrent from URL” button if it’s not working in your browser.

FinalGear.com Seattle Meet & Drive: August 11th
_____
Posted July 17th, 2012 at 22:11 by Viper007Bond in FG.com Meets

Do you live near Seattle? Or even in Portland (Oregon) or Vancouver, BC? Want to meet up with some fellow Top Gear fans and go on a long but awesome drive around the Cascade Loop? Then join me and some other folks on the morning of August 11th at Exotics At Redmond Town Center. We’ll be meeting up there to check out all of the beautiful cars and then taking off from there at 10 AM for an approximately 400 mile drive along the rivers and over the mountains of northern Washington.

If you’re interested, drop by this thread on our forums and post that you’re interested. You can also just show up unannounced on the 11th but we’re attempting to at least get a rough estimate of how many people will be going with us.

I hope to see you there!

EDIT: 400 miles too much for you? Consider just driving out to Leavenworth with us for lunch and then heading back the same way. That’s only a 200 mile drive but still along an awesome road!

Two New T-Shirt Designs!
_____
Posted February 5th, 2012 at 19:50 by Viper007Bond in FG.com Store

Forum member and all around awesome guy Blayde (check out his store!) has designed two new shirts for our store!

The first is “Gear Head”. It’s available in both a light and dark style as well as iPhone cases.

The second design is “Mechanical Anti-Theft Systems”, joking that a manual transmission will confuse and stop 9 out of 10 American car thieves.

I’m an American but I’m not going to disagree.

If you like these designs or any of our others, please support the site by buying them! Thanks!

UPDATE: Also available now is a two-pack of our logo as a sticker:

If going for a drive with some fellow FinalGear folks sounds like a fun time to you, please drop by this forum thread on our forums.

Hope to see you there!
