Need Your Feedback For Site Improvements

Posted June 26th, 2008 at 07:16 GMT by Viper007Bond in FinalGear.com

The general consensus on the forums seems to be that people would rather stick with the current site design rather than going for an all-new look.

So rather than doing a redesign, I will instead be sprucing up the current design with features such as switching to a Show -> Season -> Episode format (rather than all episodes being in one big long list), links to the wiki, etc.

If you have anything you’d like to see, please check out this list and then post any other features you’d like to see here on the main site. Thanks!

Yep, another meet. This one is planned for noon on Saturday, August 30th at Lime Rock Park for the Rolex Vintage Festival. It’ll be a great day of watching vintage racing, checking out the classic cars, and relaxing in the infield. As always, full details can be found on our forums.

FinalGear Meets: San Fransisco And Nürburgring

Posted June 5th, 2008 at 11:17 GMT by Viper007Bond in FG.com Meets

Sorry for the really short warning, but I seemed to have completely missed the fact that some San Franciscans are meeting up this Saturday. If you’re in the area and don’t have anything planned, consider joining them and meeting fellow Top Gear and Fifth Gear fans.

We’re also having yet another ‘Ring meet, this time on July 19th through the 21st (meet on the 19th, drive on the 20th and 21st). Full details about the Germany meet can be found on our forums. If it’s anything like the last time, it should be pretty awesome.

We’ve Entered The 24 Hours of LeMons Again

Posted June 2nd, 2008 at 02:03 GMT by Viper007Bond in FinalGear.com

That’s right, once again we’ll be competing in The 24 Hours of LeMons, an endurance race featuring lemon cars costing $500 or less.

However, our team needs sponsors — people like you! Donating not all that much will get your name or company on the car and help propel our team to victory! Full details for what your donation size will get you can be found on our forums.

Contact Form Is Working Again

Posted March 18th, 2008 at 03:26 GMT by Viper007Bond in FG.com Forums, FinalGear.com

Our contact form has apparently been broken since January 9th or shortly thereafter. I had just figured no one wanted to e-mail me, lol.

So simply put, if you e-mailed me via our contact form during the past 2 months, I never got it and the e-mail is unrecoverable. Sorry, but you can always e-mail me again now that the form is working. ;)

Planned Server Downtime

Posted February 6th, 2008 at 01:35 GMT by Viper007Bond in FG.com Forums, FG.com Wiki, FinalGear.com

Our site, forums, wiki, etc. will all be offline for 3 to 5 hours starting at 2PM GMT this Saturday. Our collocation center, FDC, will be doing power upgrades and fixes. As usual, if you’re bored and left without anything to do during that time period, you can always join us in our IRC channel if you have an IRC client such as mIRC or ChatZilla for Firefox.

We Now Have A Wiki

Posted February 1st, 2008 at 12:07 GMT by Viper007Bond in FG.com Wiki, FinalGear.com

We have now set up a wiki to help aggregate all of the information about Top Gear, Fifth Gear, etc. Feel free to make constructive edits and contributions to it, but please, follow the existing guidelines and templates.

We are not looking to re-invent the wheel and simply make a copy of the Wikipedia articles on Top Gear, Fifth Gear, car models, etc. We are however looking to create strong guides on specific episodes and things like that. Wikipedia is a great generic resource, but we are trying to be of a more niche resource concentrating on things Wikipedia doesn’t cover.

If you have any questions, ask them on our forums before editing. Thanks!

FinalGear Needs Your Help!

Posted January 25th, 2008 at 22:01 GMT by Quiky in FG.com Forums, FinalGear.com

We are looking for new co-location due to our current host’s mis-interpretation of copyright law and false reports by the ESA.

We need 5U of space for 2 servers, preferably in the US, with 2TB of bandwidth/month. We are fully compliant with the United States DMCA and International Copyright Laws. Send us an offer or any questions to hostingoffers @ finalgear.com .

Thanks!

In other news, our IRC server is down, but that’s unrelated. We’re hanging out at #gear on irc.chatsociety.net meanwhile. Our IRC server is back up!
