The low resolution rip of today’s Top Gear is now available. As usual, the 720p rip should follow later today with the 1080i rip tomorrow probably.

Okay, all of our Top Gear torrents should be available again. They’re now hosted on BT-Chat.com. Fifth Gear and Top Gear Australia may have to wait a while (sorry!).

As you may know, we do not host any .torrent files ourselves and instead link to Mininova. As of today though, they are effectively shutting down. This is just a quick note to say that we’re aware of it and that you need not fret — we have plenty of other options available to us and we will be making use of them.

However as it’s Thanksgiving today here in the United States, it’ll be a day or two until we have alternate links available. Please be patient and consider using the “Video Offers” section of our forums meanwhile. There are MegaUpload and RapidShare links there that you can use.

It took a bit longer than I wished, but a torrent for last Sunday’s Top Gear in 1080i TS form is now available. Download away.

I decided to push out the 720p rip earlier this week as demand seemed high for it it last week. The SD torrent may slow down a bit as a result, but hopefully not too much.

The 700MB version of today’s Top Gear is out now. 720p and 1080i will follow later today once this release is decently seeded.

After going back and forth over what type of 1080 rip to release for last Sunday’s Top Gear, we finally decided to just release the 1080i transport stream we had rather than re-encoding it or deinterlacing it. This is a raw rip of the broadcast by the BBC, as if you were watching it live.

Note that unless you have a very large HDTV or are an advanced user who specifically wants this rip, I would suggest sticking to the 720p rip. On a computer or small HDTV, it will look better than the 1080i rip and it’s only a 1/3 of the filesize.
