Reminder: You Can Automatically Download New Episodes
_____
Posted July 14th, 2008 at 01:50 GMT by Viper007Bond in FinalGear.com

This is just a reminder that we have a torrent RSS feed that you can use to automatically have new episodes that we release download to your computer, even if you’re away from it.

If you’re a µTorrent user (if you’re on Windows, I highly recommend it), I just finished writing a visual guide today that will walk you through setting it up.

Azureus users can use this guide that’s rather old but still should work fine (I haven’t used Azureus in years, so reply to that thread if it needs updating).

So if you’re at work or even sleeping when we usually release episodes, follow one of the above guides and you’ll have the episode waiting for you as soon as you get back to you computer!

The Stig Impresses F1’s Fernando Alonso At Silverstone

The Stig in an F1 car

The Stig was out at Silverstone last weekend giving a ride in a two-seater F1 car to a man who had won a charity auction when Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso commented “whoever’s in that car is a seriously good driver.” He continued, “I’ve no idea who he is, but he’s definitely ex-F1.”

Good to know Stiggy’s still got it.

Clarkson Defends Big Race Outcomes
_____
Posted July 11th, 2008 at 23:43 GMT by Viper007Bond in Andy Wilman, Jeremy Clarkson, Top Gear

Andy talked about it earlier today as well, but now Jeremy has weighed in on the whole staged-or-real questions that always pop-up about the big races that they do.

During our race to Oslo, the poor cameraman in the back of the tracking car had to pee in a bottle. We do not stop.

In the Ferrari versus plane race to Verbier, I actually overtook the tracking car, leaving me with nothing but the on board mini cams. I was that desperate to get there first.

And we get back to be accused of fakery by some internet dweeb. It makes my effing teeth itch with rage.

Of course, once the race is run and the result in the bag, the camera crews stay behind to pick up the shots needed to make the whole thing work on television. The details. The icing. But that doesn’t affect the outcome.

And apparently Sunday’s race is “the best film we’ve ever made.” Sunday cannot get here quick enough.

Andy On This Sunday’s Big Race
_____
Posted July 11th, 2008 at 13:05 GMT by Viper007Bond in Andy Wilman, Top Gear

Just incase you were living under some rock, there will be a big race this Sunday. Andy talks about it in his latest blog post:

[...] we’re all excited because we’ve got one of our big races to show you.

Now the last time we did one was a couple of years ago with the Veyron against the plane, and to be honest it wasn’t the film it could have been because it all got a bit silly side up - too big and overblown - and it didn’t have the purity of the run to Verbier or Monaco.

Anyway, we shelved the whole idea of big races until we could think of another one that made sense, and then this year Nissan very kindly decide to launch the GT-R, and the clouds parted.

Sunday’s episode should be epic.

Top Gear: Nissan GT-R To Be In 11×05 As Well
_____

No major spoilers here on the front page (I don’t consider what cars will be appearing in an episode a major spoiler), but I thought I’d let all of you GT-R fanboys that the GT-R will also be appearing in July 20th’s episode (spoiler link) of Top Gear in addition to this Sunday’s episode.
