The Scene Finally Came Through

Posted June 29th, 2008 at 22:59 GMT by Viper007Bond in Top Gear
Better late than never, some group called “COUNCiL” has finally put out a rip.
And to all the people who bitched and moaned earlier about the rip being late: if you don’t like this site, then go somewhere else. No one is forcing you to come here and visit this site which I and many other people invest much of our time and money into.

Top Gear 11×02 Status Update

Posted June 29th, 2008 at 21:00 GMT by Viper007Bond in Top Gear
Ugh, seems the Scene either missed Top Gear (unlikely I assume as Top Gear is an incredibly popular show) or something went wrong during the recoding as there’s been no sign of a release.
We’ll keep an eye out for it though. Hopefully they come through soon.
Meanwhile, feel free to hang out on our forums or our IRC channel if you’re bored, but just please don’t start asking for a rip. As said above, one hasn’t been put out yet that we can use.

Andy Defends Top Gear Stuntman

Posted June 27th, 2008 at 12:59 GMT by Viper007Bond in Andy Wilman, Top Gear
Andy defends Top Gear Stuntman in his latest blog post:
[...] and Top Gear stuntman gets his second outing.
Now let me just dwell on him for a second. People watched him last week, and we knew what would happen - nobody got the point of him.
But stick with him, because hopefully he gets funnier with repetition. Think back to the Fast Show - Jessie’s diets or Unlucky Alf only got funny after they did the same thing 20 times.
I remember during the first series of Top Gear in 2002, the crashing sound of uncomprehending silence from the audience as we introduced the Stig. And now, where would we all be without that lovely backward speedy fellow?

Need Your Feedback For Site Improvements

Posted June 26th, 2008 at 07:16 GMT by Viper007Bond in FinalGear.com
The general consensus on the forums seems to be that people would rather stick with the current site design rather than going for an all-new look.
So rather than doing a redesign, I will instead be sprucing up the current design with features such as switching to a Show -> Season -> Episode format (rather than all episodes being in one big long list), links to the wiki, etc.
If you have anything you’d like to see, please check out this list and then post any other features you’d like to see here on the main site. Thanks!

Popular Mechanics Interviews Adam Carolla About Top Gear America

Posted June 24th, 2008 at 22:53 GMT by Viper007Bond in Adam Carolla, Top Gear America
Popular Mechanics sat down with Adam for the first interview since Top Gear America was officially announced and asked him a bunch of interesting questions about the show.
The full interview can be found on their website (and it’s really worth a read), but here’s the CliffsNotes copy/pasted from the article:
- The NBC adaptation will follow the BBC format: guest segment, stunt, test drive and, yes, the Stig (casting for that crucial role is still pending).
- The premiere episode will feature a race from Las Vegas to San Francisco, ending in a “mammoth stunt.” (NBC isn’t insisting on copycat stunts or episodes, a la Season One of The Office.)
- Carolla is pushing for an on-air drive of the just-unveiled BMW M1 Homage concept as soon as it’s available, as well as the Aston Martin DBS (though that would be a reprisal of a Clarkson drive).
- Clarkson and Carolla recently met face-to-face, but Carolla promises to focus more on improv than the heavily-prepared Clarkson.
- Officials from Top Gear in England, who are producing the show, along with “everyone involved,” have assured Carolla that he will be able to speak his mind on any car “without fear of reprisal” from advertisers, which he fully plans to do.
Again, make sure to check out the full interview. It’s not too long of a read and is pretty interesting.
Thanks Tyler for the tip!

I had a little bit of trouble making the torrent as it’s been 6 months since I’ve had to do it, but all should be well now. Enjoy your Top Gear episode.
