The uncut version of the news is now out:
On another note, Mininova decided to prune the torrent for this latest episode from their site. I have no clue why they did, but it’s been reuploaded if you had been trying to download it.

An Update On Today’s Fifth Gear

Posted October 15th, 2007 at 22:49 GMT by Viper007Bond in Fifth Gear
The Scene has still yet to release a rip of today’s Fifth Gear, so hence the no release yet. Stay tuned.
Usually the Scene is much, much faster (note the 15-30 minute release time of yesterday’s Top Gear) as Vuk has a pretty slow upload speed on his connection, but this is one of the cons of relying on them — they sometimes miss / forget / whatever Fifth Gear.

James May’s Amphibious Car Version 3?

Posted October 15th, 2007 at 10:35 GMT by Viper007Bond in James May, Top Gear
James May is already planning his next amphibious car.
I now realise that the ideal car for conversion to maritime duties is in fact the MGB roadster; not only that but, ideally, the one with the rubber bumpers, because they would float. The MGB looks a bit like a small motor launch, so we’re halfway there already.
Amphibious cars work very well in my head.

Next Sunday, The Worst Day Of The Week

Posted October 14th, 2007 at 20:59 GMT by Viper007Bond in Top Gear
While this Sunday is a good one, the next one won’t be nearly as good with Top Gear being off the air so that the Brits can watch snooker (what kinda retarded name is that for a sport anyway?).
Top Gear will resume the following Sunday, the 28th. *sigh*

New Books From The Boys

Posted October 11th, 2007 at 10:43 GMT by Viper007Bond in James May, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond
For those of us who just can’t get enough of Top Gear and it’s presenters, Jeremy, Richard, and James all have released new books for the fall.
Richard’s autobiography, entitled “On the Edge “, was co-written with his wife Mindy. It details his 288 MPH crash last year and his recovery from the accident. There’s also a really funny video preview of the book by Richard at Amazon.co.uk .
Or you can just watch it via YouTube:
Jeremy’s book, “Don’t Stop Me Now “, contains his latest collection of columns as well as a ton of other random stuff.
Lastly, James May’s 20th Century accompanies his recent television series which covered various inventions and discoveries made over the past century.

News Uncut Update

Posted October 10th, 2007 at 10:40 GMT by Viper007Bond in Top Gear
News Uncut: nearly there
Sorry, sorry, sorry. We know that we promised to have the Top Gear News Uncut - featuring all the bits from the TV news section that get cut out of the final show edit - up on the site on Monday. And we’ve been trying, we really have.
However, our telly-editing facilities have been suffering from a bad case of the gremlins. The big end’s gone, apparently, and you know what mechanics are like at getting spare parts.
But News Uncut is nearly ready, and as soon as the gremlins are sorted, we’ll have it up on the site. Keep checking back - and sorry again for keeping you hanging on. But - and trust us on this - it’ll be worth the wait.

Caparo T1 Bursts Into Flames, Burns Jason Plato

Posted October 10th, 2007 at 10:32 GMT by Viper007Bond in Fifth Gear, Jason Plato
While filming for Fifth Gear, the Caparo T1 Jason was driving at 150 MPH burst into flames, giving him burns on his hands, face, and neck. Word is the burns are minor and he should be okay as he plans to race in the BTCC this weekend.
“We were testing the Caparo T1 for Fifth Gear and we took it to Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, a private testing facility, which is common practice.
“There was a slight loss of power, I looked in the mirror and saw some smoke, there was a slight smell of oil and then suddenly there was this intense heat. The car spontaneously erupted into a ball of flame and I was sat in the middle of a fireball. I hit the brakes, brought the car to a stop as quickly as I could and jumped out.”
More details at the BTCC’s website.
