As some of you may of heard, the BBC is cracking down on YouTube and the likes and having all Top Gear clips removed from their sites.

Now before you start worrying about FinalGear.com, let me just say that we won’t be going anywhere because simply put, this site is entirely legal. We host nothing, not even .torrent files. We simply list the episodes and link to torrents hosted on Mininova and there is nothing illegal about linking to another website.

So surf in peace knowing that your favorite Top Gear fansite will still be here for quite some time to come! :)

Yep, that’s right, no more Fifth Gear for a while sadly. But this last episode should be quite good as it has Tiff in a Ferrari Enzo and a McLaren F1 I hear. :D

Just a note about some new site features:

• News caching! Yep, that’s right, all pages of the news are now loaded from a cache rather than being generated each time which means faster loading times for you and less work for the server. I’ve made the countdown stay dynamic, but the rest of the page you are now looking at has been loaded from a cache. This should hopefully drop the server load quite a bit and as a result, make the server be down less, but we’ll have to see. The drawback of this though is that if you keep refreshing this page, the header image will be the same until the cache expires (for this page, visit a different page and it’ll probably be different). This of course is very minor and a worthy tradeoff.
• All news item post times from now on will be in the GMT timezone rather than my local timezone (GMT-8 during the winter, GMT-7 during the summer). This should make it easier for people to figure out when a new post was made.

Anyway, to the point of my post: if you encounter any problems with this part of the site (the news), please let me know so that I can fix them. ;)
