And incase anyone’s wondering why we even bother using Mininova and don’t just host the .torrent files themselves, it’s because most hosts frown upon it. Even though BitTorrent and .torrent files themselves are perfectly legal (what you download via them of course can vary in legality), hosts just don’t want the trouble. So hosting them offsite is a (usually) great solution.

Richard Hammond’s Dodge Challenger from yesterday’s episode is currently up for sale by Top Gear. If you’re in the US and want to own a piece of Top Gear history, then make sure to check out that link.

But what, you might be wondering, has happened to the Dodge Challenger that Hammond bought for the American road trip? Well, after its adventures on the salt flats it was taken to a garage for a reassuringly expensive health check and very thorough clean up, after which it was advertised for sale.

Unfortunately, it turns out that during a credit crunch people in America have suddenly realised that a bright orange two door muscle car isn’t top of their priority list and, whilst Richard paid a premium for it just a few months ago, Challenger values are now becoming distinctly mushy. Net result is no one has made an offer. Yet.

So, if you’re reading this in the US and you fancy a well specced, low mileage Challenger with TV stardom and (sort of) competition pedigree, you know where to look.

Hopefully your BitTorrent clients will be smart enough to not automatically download them again just because the URL to the torrent changed in the feed.

If you were thinking about buying them but weren’t sure about the quality, etc., then I have good news — you can get the first episode of that season for free via this promotion link. Now of course there are also other methods available for getting the episodes for free, but that’s another story.

With under 2 weeks to go until Top Gear returns to the airwaves, promos have started airing on BBC. upyourego was awesome enough to rip one of them for us and here it is:

I’m not sure how long they’ve been available, but season 10 of Top Gear can be downloaded on iTunes for $1.99 an episode. While they are the cut down BBC America versions (about 10 minutes worth of content has been cut and they have different music), this is still a very welcome move by the BBC. As you probably know, Top Gear is not available on DVD and until this point, not officially available for download anywhere that I know of.

So if you’ve been looking for a legal way to download the show, you now have a solution.

In a FinalGear.com exclusive, we’re pleased to announce that the US portal of TopGear.com (site not live as of this post’s time) will be launching in under an hour at 11AM EST. That is of course if it goes to plan and doesn’t end up like the UK portal which launched a week late. ;)

I’ve seen previews of it and like it’s UK counterpart, it looks very, very good. The developers and content creators for the site have been working extremely hard on it for quite a while now and their efforts have paid off. Features include a blog, videos, and best of all — some US-specific content. It should go a long way towards spreading the Top Gear brand here in the States.

BiA also opted for an even smaller rip this week — 350MB. PiX put out a 700MB rip as well though which I’ll probably release later this week (along with last week’s 700MB rip).

Wow, I totally did not see this coming. TopGear.com has officially confirmed Top Gear Russia. I guess those rumors were true.

Everything’s a bit hush-hush at the moment, but we know that it’s going to run for 15 episodes initially, around the end of this year.
